ISPO is one of the world’s largest sporting goods exhibitions, with a history of nearly 50 years since its inception in 1970.
The exhibition, which is held annually in Munich, Germany for four days, is said to be the most influential sports exhibition in the world today. The exhibition is large in scale, covering a total area of 340,000 square meters, and is divided into different exhibition areas.
There are three halls: Snow Sports Hall, Outdoor Hall, and Textile Hall. These are categorized as Hall A, Hall B, and Hall C. ISPO uses 16 halls, making it a truly huge exhibition.
Halls A1, A2, B1, and B2 are the most popular halls among them. These four halls are popular because they are home to many so-called major manufacturers and global brands, and companies exhibiting at ISPO can expect to increase their visibility by exhibiting in these four halls if their product categories match.
Ispo Munich, which took place from January 31 to February 3, 2021, was held as a digital event at the Munich fairgrounds for the first time due to Corona’s circumstances.
The ISPO organizers had hoped to make it a major event involving end consumers, but the number of both exhibitors and visitors fell short of their expectations, at about a quarter of that of the ISPO in previous years.
However, as this was the first time ISPO was held digitally, these numbers are not bad as a first step if ISPO is to be held digitally in the future.
According to industry insiders, it is highly likely that ISPO will become a “hybrid exhibition” that combines the real and the digital, focusing on the real exhibition as in previous years, but interspersing the digital exhibition once every few times. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future
According to our clients, the digital exhibition at ISPO was a little less successful than the real exhibition due to the difficulty of the online system and the low influx of visitors.
While we are usually able to meet thousands of visitors and industry professionals face to face for sales and meetings, this time, the majority of clients were only able to hold a few business meetings.
Nevertheless, compared to a real exhibition, it may have been cost effective in that we were able to exhibit at a lower cost and, as a result, we were able to make several appointments.
In an online exhibition, you cannot actually hold the product in your hands or feel it physically. Therefore, in order to attract more visitors to your company’s page, the “impact of the photos” and “intriguing titles” are almost entirely up to you.
In the future of online exhibitions, how will each exhibitor promote their company on the system? This will be an issue for exhibitions other than ISPO as well.
The 2022 ISPO will be held at a real venue as usual, not a digital one.
Note that applications for exhibiting at the regular Early Bird will be accepted until the end of June. For more information, please check ISPO official website.
In addition to the Munich venue, ISPO will also be held in Beijing and Shanghai, China. The world’s leading sports exhibition is expected to attract more and more attention in the future.
